This Daily Spitpaint thing works to both inspire and confound me. There's some incredible artwork on there, most prominently at the moment a Belgian artist called Philippe Lozinski, who is absolutely smashing it.
You then come back to look at your own work and can't help but feel a little defeated. Out of the 4 I tried today, only this one, "Wildcard", turned into something I kind of like. I often think of the work of Lou Romano whose style I suppose you could call crude but it has an abstract beauty, elegance and clarity all of its own.
Whilst I love looking at Philippe's work for example, and can feel inspired by it, I must remember that my style and my sensibilities are my own and I can and should only seek to work at that. It's the only choice really.
